My Learning Springboard is a boutique multidisciplinary educational consulting firm and learning concierge® service. We work with learners of all ages — from preschool through young adults — with diverse learning goals.
Under the leadership of Brad Hoffman and Faya Hoffman, a husband-and-wife team — and both Certified Educational Planners — we specialize in school planning and placement, private tutoring, and test preparation. Our main office is located in Tribeca (lower Manhattan) with services available across New York City, Washington, DC, Palm Beach, Miami and the metro areas of these locations. We also work with students across the United States and internationally via Skype or other collaborative platforms.
Brad and Faya each began their teaching careers in fully inclusive school settings. Brad was teaching in Maryland while Faya was teaching in Michigan. At different points in each of their teaching careers, they relocated to New York City to pivot into corporate careers.
Brad transitioned to a career in corporate Human Resources as a Talent Development Specialist with a Fortune 100 media company, where his skill set in curriculum and instruction was leveraged for an executive audience. Simultaneously, Brad launched his private practice as a Learning Specialist, Educational Therapist, and Educational Consultant.
Faya transitioned to Public Relations within the fashion industry representing both American and European designers at two different firms. She helped to build new and established brands, and she managed Fashion Week events in both New York City and Paris, where her classroom management skills were a huge asset.
As learning specialists, Brad and Faya often found themselves in conversation supporting their colleagues with school planning questions. Seeing how overwhelmed, confused, and anxious so many parents felt about school planning and school related matters, Brad and Faya felt confident they could help families to better navigate the various pathways and opportunities available to them while creatively troubleshooting and problem solving throughout any child’s schooling experience.
They recognized several important things along the way:
- that each student’s needs are different;
- that instruction should be customized, targeted, and transparent;
- and that for students and their families, finding the appropriate expertise and facilitating communication among specialists can be incredibly challenging but critical to achieving success.
Brad and Faya wanted to find a way to bring together experienced educators, educational therapists, and related service professionals, including psychologists, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and medical professionals to collaborate on developing the right program for each student as appropriate. They did so by founding My Learning Springboard in 2009. Their Executive Director, Laurie Gross, is a longtime professional colleague and mentor. Brad and Laurie worked together at Somerset Elementary School in Chevy Chase, Maryland, a leading public and fully inclusive school, where Laurie was the principal and Brad was a classroom teacher.
As a leadership Team, we work collaboratively to liaise between families, students, tutors, schools, and related service professionals to ensure success. Our tutors and specialists are dedicated professionals who believe in working together and differentiating their approach to support each student along his or her educational path.
In our work together as practitioners and in the way we operate our business, My Learning Springboard promotes:
