Heather Bradley is a School Counselor and Private Tutor with more than ten years of teaching and counseling experience working in the Greater Washington, DC area. Heather earned her Undergraduate Degree in Criminal Justice and Psychology at the University of Maryland, College Park and her Master’s degree in School Counseling at Loyola College in Maryland. She has worked with students in elementary school through high school, both in the public and private sector, as a counselor and as a math academic support teacher and executive function coach. Heather specializes in developmental areas, including life skills coaching, social skills coaching, and wellness and athletics. Heather also works with high school students on preparing for college, including helping to manage standardized test anxiety, organizing their essays and applications, and general organization skills related to meeting various college deadlines and application or portfolio requirements. She then also meets with college students as well, in person prior to leaving for school, to review schedules and textbooks/material lists, college logistics/planning and via Skype during the semesters to help with life skills, stress management, and academic success by guiding students to resources on college campuses.
With a professional background in school counseling, Heather also offers therapeutic tutoring in math and executive function coaching for students of all ages. Prior to becoming a school counselor, Heather worked with students who had learning disabilities or challenges specific to mathematics. Therapeutic tutoring focuses on providing support and reinforcement in academic areas as well as providing tools to help students manage anxiety, frustration and/or anger. She tutors all math topics at the elementary level as well as pre-algebra, algebra and geometry.
Heather has also led yoga instruction and running clubs for children and enjoys teaching young students about personal fitness and health. She has coached Girls on the Run and loves running the final 5K with all the girls.
In her spare time, Heather enjoys spending time with her young son and husband, reading, and exercising.
