Grace is a recent college graduate residing in Brooklyn. Her own hurdles in achieving success during her academic career have led Grace to a passion for making sure that other students are able to reach their academic goals as well. Grace is particularly enthusiastic about making science accessible and has helped improve her students success in the subjects of biology, chemistry, algebra and many other areas of study.
Grace graduated from Barnard College with a B.A. in Biology in 2013. During her time at Barnard, she helped numerous students find success in the sciences as a tutor for the Higher Education Opportunities Program, a scholarship program at Barnard. Grace was also trained as a supplemental instruction leader for the pre-med level introductory biology course at Barnard and led review sessions and provided academic support for the 200 students in the course. Out of college, Grace began tutoring high school students in her hometown of Amherst, MA. Helping others learn has been a constant thread through Grace’s own academic career.
This school year, Grace is working as an Assistant Teacher at Preschool of the Arts. She plans to pursue a Master’s in education and eventually become a High School science teacher. She aims to meet a student where they are and always tries to build their confidence so that any assignment can feel attainable. She brings humor and compassionate understanding to each of the students she works with and never gives up on her tutees.
When Grace is not tutoring, she enjoys running, early morning yoga classes, and cooking and baking. Grace also can often be found in her room playing her guitar and writing songs.
