The educational landscape has shifted to a more holistic approach because doing so has proven to create excellent results. Both yoga and meditation have made their way into many elementary, middle, and high school curricula and most colleges offer yoga, t00. In addition to being a great way to exercise and strengthen your muscles and body, yoga practice has the added benefit of exercising your mind: it teaches us how to naturally de-stress. One of yoga’s most basic tenets, deep breathing, is known to be one of the most effective ways to self-regulate anxiety. Statistics and research support that yoga and mindfulness training can help children and adults to be more present. Being fully present can help a person deliver his/her best in and out of the classroom and perpetuates a feeling of calm and well-being, which can lead to greater enjoyment of life experiences. Part of your child’s educational journey is to explore which combination of work, exercise, meditation, and mindfulness will create peak performance–academically, socially, and emotionally.
