David Eardley is an elementary educator and private tutor who has worked as a lead educator in New York charter and independent schools for the past seven years. Prior to that, David taught ESL abroad and in a university setting. David believes that his role as an educator is to create a diverse array of learning opportunities for all learners and to challenge himself and his students to look at every experience as an opportunity for growth.
David Eardley earned a B.A. in English literature and a Master’s degree in General and Special Elementary Education. He is passionate about design engineering, art education, social studies, and ELA and is excited to share his love of these subjects with his students. As a lifelong learner himself, David is committed to ongoing professional development and has attended the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project at Columbia University and completed the Google for Education certification program as well a design thinking course with IDEO.
David’s experience in special education has given him the understanding that each learner has their own profile and unique learning needs. He believes that conversations and work in tutoring should be learner and family-driven and that his role as an educator is to give feedback and guidance along the learner’s personal journey. David knows that when children are given agency, accountability, and autonomy over their learning, they are able to accomplish great things!
In his free time, David enjoys spending time in his neighborhood of Greenpoint in Brooklyn, and runs an independent design magazine.
