Fareed Zakaria’s commencement address was given at Harvard on Thursday, May 24, 2012. Fareed Zakaria was editor-at-large of TIME magazine from October 2010 to March 2014 and hosts CNN’s Fareed Zakaria GPS. Zakaria earned his undergraduate degree at Yale University and later earned a Doctor of Philosophy in political science from Harvard University. In his commencement address, Zakaria focused on the accomplishments of our nation and the potential for improvement and growth. While he congratulated the Harvard graduating class for their academic successes, Zakaria also emphasized the talents of heart and mind. He said, “Human beings will probably continue to reward those talents of heart and mind that they have always rewarded for thousands of years–intelligence, hard work, discipline, courage, and perhaps above all, love and faith. These are the things that at the end of the day make for a great life.”
