Elisse LoPresti is a Private Tutor and 5th Grade Teacher at New Canaan Country School. She previously taught 5th grade at Corlears School in Manhattan. She is passionate about helping students succeed, regardless of their perceptions about their abilities. She is a teacher who focuses not only on the intellectual growth in children, but also considers their physical, emotional and social well-being as well. In addition to her classroom teaching, Elisse has successfully helped her students prepare for the middle school exmissions process.
Elisse earned her Master’s of Arts in Teaching from Sacred Heart University. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Central Connecticut State University. Elisse is a Master Teacher with more than five years of teaching experience. Prior to Corlears, Elisse spent four years teaching in public elementary schools in Connecticut, the last three of those teaching fifth grade. She believes that the only way to show students how to be life-long learners and team players is to be both at all times. She has a deep understanding of curriculum in the areas of Math, Literacy and Ancient Cultures, and Elisse is passionate about developing multidisciplinary curriculum. Last year, her students created 3-D Greek temples to go along with their study of Ancient Greece. She also took her class to the MET so they could truly experience Greek culture through its artifacts. Corlears is an independent school that has truly allowed her to nourish and focus on the whole child.
When Elisse is not at Corlears, you can find her visiting her family in Connecticut, working out with her husband or reading a good book. She also loves baking cupcakes and cookies.
