Dr. Yurkovsky is a licensed clinical psychologist and hypnotherapist with over 10 years of experience as a school psychologist and five years of experience as the Director of Student Support in prestigious private schools in New York, New Jersey, and south Florida. Dr. Yurkovsky specializes in working with children, adolescents and adults with ADHD, learning disabilities and often co-existing emotional issues such as depression, anxiety, lack of motivation and underachievement. She has successfully treated myriad emotional and behavioral disorders, such as anxiety disorders, eating disorders, sleep disorders and obsessive-compulsive disorders. She has also worked with many families as they have gone through the divorce process.
Dr. Yurkovsky is a certified clinical hypnotherapist. She has seen incredible success with the students, athletes, and executives with whom she has worked. She has used hypnosis and neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) to reduce test-taking and performance anxiety, which has resulted in increased test scores and work performance, as well as increased confidence in academic, athletic, professional, and social situations.
Dr. Yurkovsky holds an M.A. in Learning Disabilities from American University and a Psy.D. in School-Clinical Psychology from Yeshiva University. Since graduating in 2005, she has pursued additional training in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical-behavior therapy (DBT), psychodynamic relational psychology, life coaching, hypnotherapy and Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples (EFT). She is also trained in the Collaborative Problem-Solving method for students with learning and behavior challenges, developed by Ross Greene, and has consulted with the teachers of her child and adolescent clients who manifest behavioral challenges at school.
Dr. Yurkovsky is a perpetual student of her craft and has been engaged in many forms of post-doctoral studies for the last 10 years. She has a variety of psychotherapeutic tools in her “toolbox” and is incredibly creative and committed in matching the best approach to each client. She provides 15-minute phone consultations at no charge in order to assess whether she can best serve the needs of potential clients or provide other resources that may be of help. She works in-person, via phone and Skype. She currently resides in Boca Raton, Florida, where she is the Middle School Counselor and Director of Student Support at the Saint Andrew’s School.
