Linda DeMayo grew up in New York City embraced by a huge, loving Italian family. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Montclair State University in 1978. There she studied Child Development and Early Childhood Education. She was also always keenly interested in business, so she took some business classes as well. These courses would serve her well in her subsequent career.
Upon graduating, she was offered a job with a prestigious Wall Street firm working on their international trading floor. Linda loved the world of international banking and soon became Vice President of Institutional Security Sales for a London merchant bank. In 1985, she chose to retire from Wall Street in order to raise her children.
In 1998, when her children were busy with middle school, she discovered her true passion: tutoring young people in high school mathematics. Since that time, she has expanded to tutoring all sections of college entrance exams. She moved to South Florida in 2003 and continued adding other standardized tests and subject areas to her resume. She is a seasoned test preparation tutor.
To date, Linda’s teaching certification has spanned 3 states as well as secondary & gifted education. Linda has developed a flexible teaching approach. She strongly believes in an individualized, whole approach to learning. Each child comes to study with his/or her unique set of gifts as well as challenges. Her goal is to uncover ALL the student’s talents and help each achieve his/her full potential. Her student’s success derives from her compassion as well as her intuitive nature. In the highly competitive academic testing environment, she finds it important to lead the students to a sense of empowerment with subject matter enrichment, as well as test taking strategies and confidence building. Her results have been outstanding, which attests to how well this approach works with her students. She enjoys her mission and puts her heart and soul into her career.
In her spare time, Linda enjoys caring for her rescued dachshund, cooking Italian gourmet meals, traveling, playing tennis and water sports, and practicing yoga.
