During her years as a Reading and Curriculum Specialist, Fran led many parent and teacher workshops in Math and Literacy. She has developed expertise with Florida state testing and Common Core State Standards. Fran has also coached students for county-wide math competitions.
As an educator Fran understands that all children have different learning styles and that it is important to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of children. She supports young students by using a balanced literacy approach, incorporating phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and critical thinking skills in her lesson plans.
Over the last four years, Fran has successfully taken on the challenge of tutoring both public and private high school students for SAT and ACT preparation. A good reading teacher for young students is also a good reading teacher for older students. She especially enjoys working with students with learning disabilities and reading comprehension challenges.
Fran’s love of math has made her an excellent tutor for young learners as well as students studying Algebra 1. She uses a hands-on approach with a variety of materials to help her students develop number sense, algebraic thinking and problem solving strategies.
Fran is very passionate about her love for children and for teaching her students to meet and exceed their potential.
