Elise Auvil
Elise Auvil is a Ph.D. student in Literature at the University of Maryland, College Park, where she specializes in Ethnic American Literature and Critical Theory. She received her M.A. in Language and Literature with a concentration in Literary History at Ohio University, and she received her B.A. in English from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where she also minored in music.
For the last several years, Elise has tutored writing students both in person and virtually. This tutoring experience has included writers at the high school, undergraduate, and graduate levels in many different fields. Elise enjoys tutoring one-on-one and thinks some of the best learning is done at that level.
As a graduate student, Elise has received Teaching Assistships and has had a variety of opportunities to design and teach both composition and literature courses. She has taught professional writing in which she helps students with cover letter and resume writing as well as editing skills. She makes times for individual attention to writing in her composition courses and supports each student’s academic growth as much as she can. Having taught first-year undergraduate courses, Elise looks forward to the opportunity to work with high school students as they prepare for their transition to college.
